In the automotive industry there is a need to determine a reasonable powertrain mounting system which meets a list of static and dynamic performance requirements, when the design is limited by many factors.
One of the approaches is to adopt for a decoupling arrangement between powertrain rigid-body modes and control the frequencies of the main vibration directions of the mounting system to fall within desirable range. This is done by optimizing stiffness of mounts along with location and orientation of mounts.
